Research interests: Dynamical systems provide a general
framework for my research, which, like my affiliations so far, has
connections with physics, mathematics, and
statistics. Below are the broad areas of interest to me:
- Data assimilation: This refers to the methods for
incorporation of noisy observations of a system into an
incomplete dynamical model of that system. This problem is
pertinent to a variety of applications, including weather and
climate prediction.
- Nontwist systems: Topics of interest are numerical
study of the bifurcation phenomena and breakup of invariant
circles in nontwist systems, such as the meandering jet of the
Gulf stream in the Atlantic ocean,
- Renormalization: Study of critical Hamiltonian
systems (invariant circles or tori) in terms of
renormalization group operators
